I am wanting to learn how to massage. I am starting massage school in July, but I want to take a quick and free crash-course before school just so I’m ahead of the game. A lesson on how to do a basic swedish massage and what types of oils and lotions to use would be a good start. I don’t want to have to buy any $50 videos or anything like that. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

There is not much you can do in learning the different style. I would take the time to learn the body in the way of the muscles, the bones, and things along those line so when you start you would be a little ahead of the game.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Massage. I can answer your question: I am a nationally licensed Massage Therapist for over 6 yrs and I teach MT. Unfortunately, there is really no way to get ahead of the massage game for hands-on. However, you can start studying your Anatomy system. Start with the Skeletal system first, then muscles. Massage is more that just aromatherapy and strokes. Massage has alot to do with movement of the human body and how is operates. Later comes the aroma( after learning the Nervous System).
There is lots you can learn on your own. Get some dvd’s and books on the topics you are interested in. Most massage schools offer an intro class. Get as many massages as you can.
Nothing is free though so get used to it. Part of being a massage therapist is figuring out how to take care of yourself first and that involves taking care of yourself financially as well. It is having enough money to do the things you want when you want.
Yes..the lady below is correct. Learn your anatomy..learn about movement, learn about the pressure points and shiatsu areas etc…just relax and do the course. the more you relax and flow, the more you will learn.
